Tube Setting
An introduction to setting round stones into tubes

Service Description
Tube setting is a great way to set round gemstones, and it’s a great skill to learn as your first step toward more complex gemstone setting. We'll be fabricating tiny bezels to accommodate faceted gemstones. We'll be focusing on round shapes in this class, but setting for different shapes and sizes is an advanced skill you should aspire to. This class will scratch the itch to include faceted gemstones into your designs. We will be learning this skill using heavy walled sterling tubing and using burs to cut the seats for our stones with the Foredom flexshaft tool. Silversmithing 3 is a prerequisite for this class which will focus only on the TECHNIQUE of tube setting. Note: You will not actually make the pictured pendant in this class, but you will acquire the skills necessary to complete it on your own. Burs and sterling tubing will be sold as a kit for this class. Please bring all your consumables from Silversmithing 1,2 and 3 so you do not have to repurchase solders and saw blades. If you have 22g sterling sheet left over from Silversmithing 1, please bring this to class or plan to purchase it along with the kit for this class. Flexshaft tools are available for purchase at the shop if you decide that you need to take one home with you :)
